T. Nick Tewell
Director of Instrumental Music

T. Nick Tewell is an active music educator and clarinetist located in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2022, he joined the faculty of Elite Scholars Academy in Jonesboro, GA as the Director of Instrumental Music. His duties include instructing three concert ensembles, two beginning ensembles, and working towards providing his students with as many opportunities to learn and grow as possible.
In 2022, Mr. Tewell graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in music education of the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. During his undergraduate studies, he studied clarinet with Dr. Lisa Oberlander and conducting with Dr. Jamie L. Nix. As a clarinetist, he has performed and served as principal with the CSU Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic, and was a finalist in the 2021 Concerto Competition. He has taken part in performances at the 2022, 2020, and 2018 GMEA Conferences. Mr. Tewell has been invited to perform with the U.S. Army Band Pershing's Own, U.S. Army Field Band, and has also been a part of performances across the United States (including Carnegie Hall, the Strathmore, New World Center, Severance Hall, and Atlanta Symphony Hall).
Mr. Tewell has served as a clinician for marching bands, symphonic bands, orchestras, and choirs across Georgia and Alabama. He also maintains an active studio of clarinet students, several of whom have majored in music or attained positions in youth orchestras and district honors ensembles across Georgia and Alabama. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (PMA).
